“Aye, I’m still on for tomorrow, see you about lunchtime” said I. But, you know me and planning. I phoned and phoned, Joycee’s phone was ringing out and there was no answer. In between these attempts I rummaged, and eventually ransacked the place, room by room in attempt to find it. I know Joycee had [...]

Phil was racing in the psycho category of the Nokia Coast to Coast last week. He has an awesome story to tell and I’m not going to spoil the surprise. My place in all this was jump out from behind bushes and fail to get photies of him as her flew past, a task which [...]

When the rain comes on, I think it clouds as many minds as it does car windscreens. There were wrecked cars strewn across the A82 this morning behind us after the braking distance and visibility was apparently not the same as it had been when the road was dry the day before. The motorway on the [...]

Phil and I were at KORS a few weeks back, it was day two of gearapalooza after the fine day at PHD’s factory. We had an early start this year after a night in Keswick and a mighty help-yourself breakfast, but still never managed to talk to everyone. Therein lies a tale of its own. There [...]

Here’s something I’ve never done on here, a group test. I’ve constantly rotated all the test kit below, some have been on the go for 18 months or more, I’ve worn them, carried them, slept in them, spilled cuppas on them, sweated in them and even washed them. They’re all pretty different, materials, price, fit, [...]

Also just out of the box, new in for test from Berghaus, the Extrem Down Duvet. This is something a little different for me, I rarely get to test the more “regular” stuff, but at 710g this fatboy of a mountain jacket isn’t going to upset me too much this winter. Like the Ignite Hoody [...]

Just in for test, and new for this winter is the Berghaus Ignite Hoody. It’s what we’d call a “classic” design, ie it ticks the practical boxes and none of the pointless ones and comes in the materials combination of justice: Pertex and Primaloft. It’s an uncluttered design, no faff has been found on it. [...]

I don’t mind if someone makes a mistake and breaks something, it’s a thing we all do. What I don’t like is when folk don’t give a shit and break something. I fitted some pipework earlier in the year, it was tricky to do, with multiple bends and angles and I was stand back-hand on hips-pleased [...]

Coming soon to the UK are Annecy Cosmetics. Steady on, it’s weather protection I’m talking about here. I go through all sorts of tubes, sticks and jars of whatnot all year round and it’s vital stuff. I’ve been using a sample lip balm/sunscreen and it’s looking good, it’ll come into it’s own when winter arrives [...]

Recently had a shufty at next years AKU range, and there’s some changes in there. They are trying to go lighter, the kit’s made in Europe and there’s models in there that we would liove to see if the store buyers weren’t so, well, rubbish. As time goes on my dismay at the differences between [...]

X Bionic has been a topic of conversation on here the past few days, so I though I’d add this overdue quick look at a couple of new models. Excusing the photies from my phone, above is the new Trekking Polo in the hands of Rob from Ardblair Sports, the distributors. After wearing a techno-polo [...]

Waterproof low-cut shoes: always a talking point. I can sit on both side of the fence and appreciate that the grass does look drier on both sides. For trail running and open hillside shenanigans, waterproof shoes just trap the water inside and grind away at your feet if the fit of the shoe and your [...]

A better day in the Macfarlane household. Holly’s sleeping soundly and quietly. One eye is still fat, like it belongs on a punch-drunk boxers battered face from a 50′s B Movie (every time I see it I want to do “something” to help it, I hate feeling useless), but it’s not irritating her quite as [...]
