Toot, toot! We’re the snoots! Yugo and Migo!

I have to get my finger out

I have failed to get my hill legs loosened off during this festive period so far. I’m still up coughing at night and I’m dog tired, so regular operational capacity still eludes me. More test kit has arrived, so I really can’t hang around forever.

Still, meeting some chums on Wednesday for a hill I haven’t [...]

OMM Villain 45+10RL MSC Review

Mike Parsons was the man behind Karrimor when they were good, the Alpiniste and Elite series of clothes and equipment being what gets me misty eyed still… However, now he’s the man behind OMM. The kit produced is the spiritual and design successor to that old Karrimor kit. If you had an Alpiniste 45+10, you’ll [...]

Terra Nova Lasercompetition/ Laserlite Review

I’ve used one of these on almost all the trips I’ve been on for the last couple of years. It has performed above expectation, and beyond it’s remit from Terra Nova. It’s small footprint, weight and usability transformed the scope of what I felt was acheivable when wild camping in the mountains.

There’s an awful lot of [...]

Fantastic Cat

That Miller Beer advert with the bloke who freewheels downhill to the offy for his six pack and freewheels downhill home again was just on.  It’s Takako Minekawa that sings the song, it’s “Fantastic Cat” from her “Roomic Cube” album. I absolutely love it, it’s kind of like an album from a Japanese Björk. Fruitlooptastic.

Aye, and it’s [...]

Greetings from the NE

We’re at the beach.

Christmas Eve

It’s a time of different meanings and different emotions for different people. It means family to me, but whatever it means to you I hope that you find joy. If you can find no joy, then I hope that you can find solace. If you can find no solace, then I wish for you to [...]

A wee day oot

It’s time Holly saw some mountains, Joyce is going stir crazy for some pointy scenery, so obviously we went to Glen Coe today.
It was a fine drive, very quiet. The weather had some holes in it and we got to see some of the ususal suspects in dark brooding guise (see below). We headed round [...]

And again

I was going through the hunners of photies from yesterday and this one made me smile. It’s from the Lang Craigs looking over Dumbarton towards Inverclyde (honest). I just love the way that fence looks as if it’s disappearing into the abyss.

Also, I’m officially finshed work for ‘07 now. Saw my last customer today and [...]

Carpe Diem 2

The weather is looking crap for the weekend. It was looking misty with a hint of blue above it this morning as AyrtshireTiger reported. So, I took the gamble and headed out for wee quick hike up to Doughnot Hill.
I consider that to have been a wise move. Despite the coughing fit I had at [...]

CAMP Corsa Nanotech

Hey, it’s here in its 250g of wonder. It is basically a cranked shafted Corsa, but has it’s Steve Austin bionic implants. The pick has a usable point bolted on.

The point on the pick as actually a lot slicker than it looks in the photies. There’s no noticable saquared edges.
The shaft end has the same treatment. [...]

Weather

The house across the road has a pure white, thickly frosted roof. My first thought is “Hey, good loft insulation”, my second thought is that with the council’s hastily fairylightened tree looming large between us it does actually look a bit like a wee Christmas card scene. And is accordingly quite nice. Holly is of course [...]

plaetoq

I love watching folk who are good at what they do, be it a craftsman, a musician or an artist. It’s like an adult version of being read a story at bedtime.
It’s somehow reassuring and sends me to sleep.
